De Sonos Era 300 Zwart levert indrukwekkend ruimtelijk geluid dankzij Dolby Atmos en zes drivers die geluid in meerdere richtingen sturen. Het apparaat vult zelfs grote ruimtes met krachtig, gedetailleerd geluid en ondersteunt Apple Spatial Audio. De connectiviteit is veelzijdig met WiFi, Bluetooth en line-in, maar het grote formaat vraagt om voldoende ruimte. De prijs is hoog en er is geen HDMI-ingang, waardoor het geen vervanger is voor een soundbar. Google Assistant wordt niet ondersteund, wat voor sommige gebruikers een nadeel kan zijn.

The 300's are a few steps up from the 100's that I already have. The sound is quite spectacular - even with mp3 format. And with Flac - the sound is tremendous. Set-up was a problem to start with, but with Google AI's the solution was simple - just switch off the 5 GHz wi-fi band. Two speakers are a relative high price, but I think the investment is worth it.

• Sound: excellent balance, clear vocals, and good separation of bass/mids/highs. • Bass: deep and clean even at low volume. Little need to adjust the equalizer. • Atmos: different from a true home theater. The overhead effect is less localizable, but you get a genuinely wide, enveloping sound bubble, very different from a classic JBL. • Spatialization: several speakers aimed in different directions, giving the impression of a mini multichannel system. • Sonos: excellent app bringing together Amazon Music, Spotify and Tidal. Amazon Atmos a bit tricky to set up from Polynesia, but works perfectly afterward. • Placement: excellent in a closed room (~25 m²). Less suited to an open terrace where you lose spatialization and bass. I would rather choose a Five. • Expandable: 2nd Era 300, Sub then home theater soundbar. As a user of a Pioneer LX305 5.1.2/Focal/Klipsch home theater, I am blown away: it's not a real home theater, but a different and very successful experience.
