Philips Hue Draadloze dimmer switch

The main benefit of these switches is that they are as convenient as regular wall light-switches. There is no need for a phone-app beyond the initial programming. That makes your fancy Hue light accessible to everyone instantly. The switches are well made with good mounting options (screws or sticky pads). They mount to the plate magnetically. Each of the four buttons can be programmed with several functions: short press, long press, multiple presses. (I use mine for On, cycle though several light-scenes, Off, but then I have a complex setup). Programming is not hard. The app finds the switches fast, and it guides you through basic set-up. With these switches, even the most technophobic members of my household make use of the Hue lighting scenes. That’s the win here. The whole Hue system is however punishingly expensive. If only it wasn’t the only one that worked properly!

Added this to my hue system and its really great having full control of 4 rooms as I walk in the front door. I have guests often and its really hand to be able to hand this to them and say "hey push 1 for the living room, 2 for the porch, 3 for the kitchen, and 4 for the back porch". Keeps people from having to fumble around in the dark looking for a switch when their dog needs to go out at 2am. Further its programmable and really easy to set up in the HUE app. The only negative: The dimmer option is a little laggy which is the only downside. Just laggy enough you'll find yourself turning things up way to high or way to low because of the slow response time.

I got this one to add to my current smart home build. Sometimes I just need a change of environment in my bedroom, so I put it under my nightstand for easy access. I love that you can program the colors you want and take the button with you around the house, and it still works from a distance. WHY IT'S NOT 5 STARS: Maybe there's something I'm missing here, but after my research, it seems like you cannot cycle to any scenes outside of the default. If you are using these accessories without the HUE companion app, then this is a non-issue.

Our new home was wired as we would have not choose. The light switch to the master ceiling fan was to the left and on the wall just past where the door ends. The wall to the right had space for a single switch and is where the most traffic is. It is great to be able to easily turn the ceiling fan and light on and off from a more practical location. I highly recommend this product if you are in the market for a simpler, more practical location for a light switch. It is very light weight and easy to install.

I have four version 1 Philips Hue dimmer switches. They work great and come with a magnet backed base plate. This version 2 dimmer has a couple of design changes. The V1 on switch now functions as an on/off switch. The V1 off swith is now designated for Scenes and will cycle through them with each press. The base plate is slightly larger on this version than the V1 ( New swith also has rounded corners - which means you can't use old V1 wallplates with V2 switches ). Even though the Philips website claims the wallplates will connect to magnetic surfaces e.g. fridges. The V2 does not have magnets. It only has peel off adhesive strips. If it still had magnets it would get 5 stars. Devices is great. The design is lacking.
