Clear sound, certainly, but really low output for that $$$ amount spent and weight. It barely moves my single pair or 4 ohm Cerwin-Vega SL-15 speakers to a point where you can hear / not to mention feel the bass. Everything is very light sounding. Turning up the volume at full bass just increases mids and heights. I've previously powered those speakers with a 20-year old optimus receiver from radioshack which had significantly more power, fuller tone, more bass movement by utilizing only half bass - without loudness enabled. So no more cool movie scenes rumbling experience with that Denon. Whole family misses it.

I got this to use with a pair of Magnepan LRS speakers. This Denon amp with its high amp output makes the LRS sound wonderfull. Clear highs and solid lows.

Got my new Denon PMA-1600NE integrated amp in yesterday afternoon only to find the left front damaged. I still connected the speakers and my new Denon network streamer. Sounds awesome like i knew it should. Boxed it back up and returned to UPS for shipping back to Amazon. Now I wait another 2-4 days.
