Nikon Monarch HG 10x42

I bought these binoculars a few weeks ago and am very happy with them except for one thing. The objective lens caps (over the wide end of the binoculars) keep popping off. I'm constantly having to check them when I'm out in the field. They appear to fit snugly but won't stay on. These are great binoculars. but surely Nikon can do better on the details! I'm afraid the lenses will end up being damaged. PS: A friend has the same model and her binoculars also have this problem.

Good Points: Wide FOV, very good brightness, sharp images. As a 10x binoculars it has a very nice wide field of view and this help you stabilise your binoculars better. Image quality, brightness is very good, very less compromise when you look at long distances (you can see 2 miles away with). No CA at all. Improvement Points: Focus could be improved a little bit.

I previously owned a pair of Vanguard Endeavour bins and was quite pleased with them but as a glasses wearer the eye relief just didn't suit. Even though the Monarchs are only a small increase (17mm) these show no vignetting. Also the light weight and great wide angle of view makes a massive difference. Very well made and superb image quality. The depth of field is such that the image is in focus without having to really fine tune the focus wheel. Looking forward to using them for birdwatching which I have just started. I've not tried the top rank of Zeiss, Leica etc but I cant see how they can be 3 times better than the Nikons even at thrice the price! Buy with confidence!
