Nikon Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.8 S

This small, light, 85mm portrait lens packs a punch for the small size and light weight. It is an "S" quality lens, and is good in low light and sharp edge to edge. Results look like a much more expensive lens.

Gekocht via nikon.nl voor 709 euro via december aanbieding. Sindsdien heeft dit objectief veel op mijn Z5 gezeten. Ik kocht dit als portret en algemeen lichtsterk objectief voor straatfotografie etc. Ik ben 100% tevreden. Op f1.8 al erg scherp waar je op focussed, de rest mooi onscherp met een mooie creamy bokeh. Scherpstellen gaat heerlijk vlot, prima zonnekap al maakt die het geheel wel wat langer natuurlijk. Al met al een heerlijke prime waar ik veel plezier van denk te gaan hebben. Als ik een klein nadeel moet noemen dan is het dat lichtjes soms de vorm van katteogen kunnen aannemen in de achtergrond op f1.8, geheel rond vind ik mooier maar goed dit is een persoonlijk ding en amper een nadeel te noemen. Paar eigen gemaakte foto’s bijgevoegd, de kaars op f2.8, rest op f1.8 geschoten. De “katteogen” zijn een beetje zichtbaar op de foto met het huisje.

Headshots are a large part of my business and since transitioning into the Z system I was excited to get the 85mm 1.8 S lens and it did not disappoint. I have never experienced a lens so ridiculously sharp at the widest aperture. That kind of sharpness against the beautiful smooth bokeh is magic. For a lens that performs this well and is compact, light weight and reasonably priced makes it a must have.

This is a solid lens for portraits for a reasonable price, considering it falls into Nikon's S line of lenses. The bokeh is outstanding, and the focus is razor sharp if used properly. Eventually I may upgrade to the 85mm f1.2, since I bought this right before it was announced. But in the meantime, I'm more than happy to use this one on shoots.
