These are really comfortable, lightweight open back headphones that carry a lovely amount of bass. For me the treble needed taming. I use these for everyday while working (not as a sound engineer) and I forget i’m wearing them. I have them connected to a quedlux 5k portable bac/amp which allows me to eq it - not that it needs much at all. I’m a little treble sensitive so I reduced the 6k slightly. Try listening to Dolby atmos and these are fantastic, you feel Immersed is sound. I did a lot of research and tried other headphones. The only downside for me is the length of the cable. It’s a great cable but very long. I wish Sony sold a shorter one.

One of the bassiest open-back headphones we've seen to date.

A fun, engaging pair of open-backed wired headphones, and though the MDR-MV1 are from Sony’s professional side, they do a fine job when used for home listening.

They have mid tones moved back and are nice with lows and highs. Good for house trance and other clubby genres.

Detailed scene not so open as with Beyer's maybe, but very precise, very good for hi-res sources, gaming, vocals are reproduced perfectly. For best performance require good dac/headphone amp stack. Good'ole Sony studio approach adequate for demanding consumer listeners too. I am waiting for Senns 490 pro since I cannot accommodate my ears to HD-600/560s and such. I currently use Beyer's and Sundara, and both MDR-7601/MDR-900st.
