De Etymotic ER4SR staat bekend om zijn uitzonderlijk neutrale en nauwkeurige geluidsweergave, waardoor hij geliefd is bij audiofielen en professionals. De passieve isolatie is een van de beste op de markt, ideaal voor gebruik in lawaaierige omgevingen. De resolutie en detail zijn uitstekend, en de coherentie van het geluid is perfect dankzij de enkelvoudige BA-driver. Wel is het basniveau laag, waardoor deze oordopjes minder geschikt zijn voor wie van een krachtige bas houdt. De diepe plaatsing in het oor kan oncomfortabel zijn, en de soundstage is vrij klein en smal. Ook wordt de kabel vaak als stijf en microfonisch ervaren. Overweeg deze punten goed als je op zoek bent naar een referentie in-ear monitor.

The extended response version (for those who aren't quite brave enough to hear a flat frequency response...) is incredible and has become my daily driver. If I had to point out a negative, the cable noise when the tips are deep inside your brain is noticeable but it is worth it.

The Etymotic ER•4SR is a worthy successor of the legendary ER•4S with a most widely similar sound signature with just minor tweaks on the sound side and a better cable as well as a better ear tip material.

Dit is alweer m'n 3e setje. De eerste twee gingen zéker 10 jaar mee maar raakten geleidelijk beschadigd door het intensieve gebruik (o.a losrakend snoer: dat is nu, met vervangbare, afkoppelbare snoeren, geen probleem meer). Ik gebruik ze uitsluitend met Comply foamtips (TX-100) en hoef daardoor nooit de meegeleverde Etymotic filtertjes te vervangen! Fantastisch geluid, zéker bij klassiek.

Uitstekend geluid met neutrale bas weergave. De kabel is vervangbaar, ideaal! Kabel is erg lang, maar uiteraard in te korten met een cable wrap. De koptefoon dempt omgevingsgeluid uitstekent, bv. in het OV kun je het geluid opmerkelijk zachter zetten. De demping naar buiten toe is ook erg goed ongeveer tot 70dB kun je luisteren zonder dat omstanders er iets van horen. Helaas heeft de koptefoon geen iOS en ook geen algemene volume control, beetje jammer! Dat had voor de prijs wel gemogen! Verder zijn de accessoires (opzetstukjes en accu filters) duur en lastig te krijgen en deze moeten wel regelmatig vervangen worden, iets om zeker rekening mee te houden!

I bought mine more than 15 years ago from B&H and they are still going strong. Super-small, super-lightweight, terrific and accurate sound quality. Anyone who finds the sound lacking is not putting them far enough into their ears. Reach around the back of your head with your other hand to pull back on your ear while you insert the Etymotic deep into your ear canal, then do the same on the other side. Then TURN DOWN the volume you're used to until you can comfortably hear all the nuances of the music while noticing that fans, computers, talking, traffic and other background noises have virtually disappeared. These IEMs are truly amazing if you're wearing them properly!
