Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro 80 Ohms

Andertons are a fantastics company to deal with always have great stock levels. The Headphones are exactly what I was looking for to pair them up with my Helix Stadium

I had the DT 770 Pro and then switched to an open-back headset, the DT 990 Pro in 80 ohms with a sound card (Focusrite Solo 2 e gen). The sound is excellent and the foam pads are extremely comfortable after two weeks of breaking them in.

Buying audio gear like headphones based on reviews is always a challenge because it is subjective and relative. I now have several sets of open back and semi open headphones to compare. Sound wise these are joint best, I cannot hear a difference against my previous best set but quality they stand out. The pads are much better and should stand the test of time. All others have a vinyl pad which degrades. These don’t

Having owned a DT990 (non-pro/basic) for almost 25 years, I thought I'd give beyerdynamic another try. I'm not an audiophile! But I like the rather neutral reproduction of these headphones and the range of the frequency response (it's the first pair of headphones I've heard bass through). My old DT990 has followed me over tens of thousands of kilometres, has never failed and is still in daily use! Even though I've had to change the consumables (pads and arch pads). Visually, it doesn't look out of place, even if the weight makes you feel that the new ones are lighter (the aluminium shells have a lot to do with it on the old one). It's surprising. As a new dad, I got 2 of them plugged into a headphone amp connected to my HC so that my wife and I could watch our Blu-rays without waking our twins. So far, they've been a welcome relief and the audio quality is very good. If I get the chance, I'll review it again in 20 years' time for the next generation.
