The description of capabilities of this product is grossly overstated. IT is not worth what I paid. Absolutely NOT. I am extremely disappointed, because I could have purchased a much cheaper one and got the same result. It said that you could see planets. You CANNOT. you can see the moon. My zoom lens on my camera does just as well with that. I am fed up with companies that lie and plant false glowing reviews of their products, just to gouge customers. Save your money.

I did a bunch of research to get my son a telescope for his 12th birthday (he was asking for one). All the internet advice was saying you can't get a good starter scope for under $. This fit the bill perfectly and cost half that. Almost no setup and we were looking at Saturn that very night under pretty bad light-pollution.

The is a great little telescope based on Celestrons similar Firstscope 76 telescope. The tube assembly has a metal outer case with a pearl metallic white finish and is delivered pre-assembled on it's black MDF stand. The 2 eyepieces give some small clear images of the moon and also show some of the planets and brighter stars, albeit as small bright 'dots'. I've attached a photograph of the Moon and Venus that was taken through one of the eyepieces, though the images you see when looking through the telescope are much clearer in real life than the are in the photo. The stand is sturdy and moves smoothly on 3 Teflon-like pads. The focuser also works well and is compatible with standard 1.25" eyepieces.
