Amazing when it locks in while hand held. Bit on the heavy side. I upgraded strap to op/tech system for more comfort. Also added 58mm lens hoods to increase contrast especially when doing astronomy. Also added 62mm lens caps for the lens hoods. 58mm lens caps fit binox without lens hoods. I considered the smaller, less powerful version, and I am glad I stayed with this big boy.

Good points....crisp bright optics; good color rendition and correction. Typical Canon fit and finish; first rate. IS works fine considering high magnification; handheld still require steady hands for larger movements that binos can't compensate for. Not so good is the lack of objective dust caps and no objective dew shields which I added. Why I had to buy objective dust caps for $1000 binoculars is a mystery. The second negative thing is the eyecups are very rigid and the eye relief with them extended requires one to press them up against eyes to see the whole fov; uncomfortable. Image shows added objective extensions and dustcaps which make these much more usable in the real world.

Very clear and gather light nicely. IS works wonders, only draw back is size and weight. would be nice if they came with caps for both ends for the price, not cheap.

Using this for general spotting for astrophotography and sky gazing. The image stabilization and bright views are simply perfect. Worth the $$ no doubt if you're serious about astro work.

The stabilization is better than non-stabilized binocs, but the magnification is pretty high, so it won't stabilize effectively unless you hold them very still. These are also pretty heavy. I would have liked to pay about half of what these cost.
