De Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 is veelzijdiger en makkelijker in gebruik en is nog steeds scherp geprijsd.De Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 is dankzij de beeldstabilisatie nog veelzijdiger dan zijn voorganger en daar waren we al erg over te spreken. Wie een zoom als deze vooral met voor sport of events met relatief korte sluitertijden gebruikt, kan nog kiezen voor het oude objectief. Die was ook al goed en is nu iets in prijs verlaagd. Dankzij de beeldstabilisatie kan je het nieuwe objectief prima met langere sluitertijden gebruiken en dat komt toch vaak van pas. Ook video-opnames uit de hand profiteren van de stabilisatie. De prijs is maar iets hoger dan de eerste generatie vier jaar geleden bij introductie kostte. Daarmee is het nog steeds heel gunstig geprijsd

Ik had een nieuwe lens nodig voor Evenementen, sport en straatfotografie. f/2.8 was belangerijk voor mij, voor in-door events heb ik namelijk meer licht nodig en de f/2.8 helpt daar zeker bij. Ik heb eerst zitten kijken naar de Sony 70-200 GM f/2.8, maar die is het niet waard in vergelijking met deze Tamron lens. Deze Tamron 70-180mm, is in vergelijking tot de Sony 70-200mm : Twee keer zo licht (Belangerijkste factor voor mij) Twee keer zo goedkoop Even goede - betere focus dan de Sony GM Even scherp, kwaliteit tussen de twee lensen kan je zelf niet opmerken Top lens voor mensen die toch dat extra zoom nodig hebben voor verdere afstanden. Deze lens sluit aan bij mijn andere Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD lens.

I wanted a mid-priced zoom for Sony full-frame, but the Tamron 70-180 has too many compromises to recommend. Because it's compact and light, it's suitable as a travel lens. At full zoom, centre sharpness, colour, contrast, vignetting and aberrations were good at F2.8 and very good at 5.6. But at apertures above F4.0, the bokeh became a busy mess of edges and shape-echoes. It looks like a crude impressionist painting, and unless that's the look you're going for, this is not your lens. For: travelers, budget-minded aps-c shooters and full-frame videographers who must absolutely shoot at F2.8. It would be suitable for indoor event photography used wide-open. Not for: full-frame Sony cameras, or wildlife or portrait photography above F4.0, where the super-busy background will distract from your subject. Also: I would not couple this lens with an 1.4x or 2x zoom attachment, as that will just magnify the weaknesses.
