Canon EF 50mm F/1.2 L USM

This lens was never meant to be valued in terms of its critical sharpness, any more than its f/1.0 predecessor was. The whole point of owning an f/1.2 lens is to achieve stunning results by opening the aperture to somewhere close to its maximum, typically on headshots of people or animals. I must correct an earlier contributor who referred to the manual focus function as \"by wire\". It isn\'t, which is obvious from turning the focus ring to refocus when your camera is turned off. To be honest, I would have expected someone who also claims to be a professional photographer to know that.

The 85/1.2 g2 I can recommend, to some people. This I cannot.

Good Points: One can immediately tell from the build quality that this lens is a professional level piece of kit. The small amount of pictures that I have taken so far have come out superbly well so I'm very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this product. Improvement Points: I'm still experimenting with this lens so it's early days as to whether it will meet all my needs for which I purchased it. Hence why I gave 'Value for Money' an 8 out of ten as there's still more experimenting to do.

Ik wilde al langere tijd een lichtgevoelige lens om binnen te kunnen fotograferen zonder flits. Nu ik de knoop heb doorgehakt en gekozen heb voor deze duurdere L-lens heb ik spijt dat ik deze lens niet veel eerder heb aangeschaft. Ik heb de lens aangeschaft voor het fotograferen van leerlingen binnen de school waar ik werk. De 50mm is zeer geschikt voor de soms niet al te grote klaslokalen.

Ik heb dit objectief nu 3 weken in huis en heb heel veel foto's gemaakt . De bokeh is supermooi op f/1.2 . Ik ben er heel erg tevreden mee. Hij is wel aan de prijs maar dan heb je ook wat.
