I used to own the previous version and now own the revised version 2. Optically this is the best wide-angle lens I've ever used. Sharp from corner to corner, outstanding color rendition and beautiful bokeh when focused on nearby objects at wide apertures.

Very light. Extremely high quality. The perfect wide angle lens for any camera. I use it on M3 and M240 and get great results. It is expensive for a Summicron, but it is extremely sharp . High quality and light weight make it a good choice.

I have an order for a Leica M10 and got the Summicron 28mm f/2 to use with my Sony a6300 with the Novaflex adapter (also from B & H). The photo are extremely sharp and has the pop you see with Leica lenses.

Originally wanted the 28mm Elmarit, but My Leica dealer didn't have it, but did have the Summicron. Bought it 10yrs ago for around $3000. At the time it was the fastest 28mm Leica made. That was very important to me because at the time I loved shooting wide. This lens is very sharp. Due to it being a 28mm wide, I can easily hold this lens steady under 1/30 shutter speed with excellent results. Of course this is really an advantage of all wide angle focal lengths. I really love this lens and how sharp it is, and it very much has that Leica look. Do note that this lens with the hood blocks the corner of the viewfinder. This does not bother me, but I typically shot this lens without the hood. I have the older version with the plastic hood. In some ways I prefer Leica plastic hoods over the new metal one. But the new ones are much nicer to look at and feel much better.

Superb optics. My only complaint, which I have for all my metal hood Leica glass, is filter mounting and use. Manipulation of filters is harder with metal hood. I've learned to live with it. Just a pet peeve. This is the widest lens using the rangefinder's view lines. Wider requires using live view or an optional viewfinder.
