You can put a hard drive in fine. But apparently, it's picky about what devices it passes, even with the power supply.

Good Points: All the ports are powered. If you run a stand alone USB hard drive on a non powered port it can corrupt the hard drive.

This hub was fine for weeks but now it keeps dying on me. Once a day the connection to it basically resets. Quite annoying. Startech gets 2 stars instead of 1 for allowing reviews on their site.

I purchased a new Dell Vostro 5502 i7, 16GB memory and all of my current 3.0 USB Hubs would not read on my new laptop???? Dell has this on there Web page so I new it would work I even saved $30.00 per Hub compared to Dell prices. I can hook up external Hard Drives and any media I wish and they all read at once! as they should, very happy with my purchase. Fast shipping and a great price, just get one NOW!!!!
