I am Setsuna - Switch

Cubed3 Rating There are better JRPGs that could be played portably on the GBA, DS, and Vita, but I Am Setsuna is the best JRPG that can currently be played on Nintendo Switch. The game isn't without its faults, though - namely the repetitive nature of environments, enemies, and bland NPCs. However, it has a powerful narrative that is driven by its backdrop and score; elements that should be greatly appreciated by all fans of the genre.

I Am Setsuna is a little too shallow at times to truly stand out as a worthy successor to its precursors but, if you have a hankering for a throwback to Square’s golden age of RPGs but with a current generation sheen applied, it’s worth giving the game a look even if it doesn’t quite manage to reinvent the wheel.

Loved the game, great RPG so far. but only 4 hours play time into it.

Is it worth the full retail price? Probably not. I bought it. It sits proudly in my gaming collection. This is obviously a Japanese release with Japanese packaging and labeling but fear not, once you put the cartridge in your Switch, the system will show it as I Am Setsuna and all the menus and dialog will automatically be in English. The price. I had to take a star off for the price. At the time of my purchase, this essentially cost the same as a new, full priced PS4 game. I've imported many games so this wasn't a massive deal for me but it was over double the cost of the digital version. It may drop in price... it may go out of print... who knows. The digital version is an option, for now
