Team Sonic Racing valt op door zijn innovatieve teamraces, waarbij samenwerken centraal staat. Je kunt kiezen uit veel Sonic-personages en voertuigen, en het spel biedt uitgebreide aanpassingsmogelijkheden. De multiplayer is sterk, zowel lokaal als online. Wel missen sommige spelers de battle mode en extra content van eerdere Sonic-racegames. Op de Nintendo Switch zijn er framerateproblemen, vooral als je op tv speelt. Ook zijn de geluidseffecten en voice-acting niet altijd prettig, en online matchmaking kan traag zijn. Over het algemeen is het een leuke en strategische kart-racer, vooral met vrienden.

For some context I played tons of racing games on the highest diffuclty and i played the first game of the series on ds so i understand how to play these games. My only issues is the scaling for any difficulty above normal is way too high, cause no matter how well i drive catching up when sent back is more difficult then it should be. Also the team system is really a set back cause if you do well holding 1st but your team cant catch up too you it usually results in 2nd or 3rd placement which gets frustrating cause it happens often even when you shower them with items to help them.

Great game, but items slow you down too much. In one race I was in first and got hit by an item and was put in seventh place.

The racing is smooth and feels slowish. But the main problem is the 3rd chapter locking of the remainder of the story with 2 unfair challenge races that i think were untested.
