At launch, this was one of the finest cameras Nikon has ever made and a genuine alternative to Sony’s A7R III, the Z7 more than exceeded our expectations of its first full-frame mirrorless camera.

The Z 7 is the best full-frame mirrorless camera for photographers invested in the Nikon system, but some quirks prevent it from attaining class-leading status.

Nice camera for most subjects. But for me and moving animals/sports not very fast - buffer is good - 5 pics not so - but the viewfinder is nervous and can't even catch-up with 5 pictures/sec. If I compare with Sony 7R3 or 7R4 - Nikon loses in to many aspects. Even with the new, light 5.6/500 mm and 4/300 mm PF not my choice for tele-photography. Picture Quality is very good, ahead of Canon EOS R, Fujifilm X-T3, Panasonic G9, Olympus M1X and close to Sony 7R4. Has very good AWB - much better ...

The Nikon Z7 may not be the prettiest camera, and it's certainly not cheap either, but it's still a formidable debut model in the Z system. With excellent image quality, great videos, lovely handling and a wonderful EVF, together with much-appreciated support for F-mount optics, Nikon has smashed our expectations with the Z7.

Very high quality piece of kit. Coming from the D810, it is much lighter yet still feels very rugged. The menu and touch screen are lightning fast, and that EVF and screen is virtually lag free. I've tried the A7RII before, but this is another beast all together. Also pleasantly surprised the kit came with a 64gb XQD card for free inside the box! Only annoying thing is the 24-70 lens needs to be extended to 24mm from the 'locked' position before it can be used.
