There are times when having a remote control for one's camera is vital - including oneself in a group photo, or to minimise camera shake if tripod-mounted. I have been using a Hahne remote trigger, which does the job OK, and can also deal with off-camera flash if need be. But the Hahne solution is a bit cumbersome - two units, four batteries and choosing the correct cable; and using Nikon Snapbridge for remote control is doable but a bit over-engineered for simple remote operation of the camera. The Nikon ML-L7 provides a convenient and easily-portable way of controlling the camera remotely with minimum setup. It operates the camera over bluetooth. The only downside of this is that it is not possible to use Snapbridge and the ML-L7 simultaneously, so one will lose, for example, Snabridge geotagging whilst using the ML-L7. Otherwise, though, it's a neat, unobtrusive and convenient way of operating the camera remotely.

It is handy for firing on a tripod keeping the iso low and shutter low

Works seamlessly with the P1000 when mounted on a tripod to prevent shaking when using zoom up to 3000mm

A useful addition for the Nikon P1000. Allows shutter, video, focus and zoom control without touching the camera, an important consideration when using very long focal lengths where the slightest disturbance can cause the camera to shift and ruin the shot. Bluetooth connection is fairly quick and easy, but automatically disconnects if the remote is not used during a somewhat and annoyingly short period of time. The Fn1 and Fn2 buttons do not work with the P1000, which seems to be a shortcoming, given the cost of the remote, which is quite expensive. Whether it is worth it or not depends on the individual and the type of photography they do.
