Bought these last summer for a hiking trip in the Laurentians. I didn't find that they needed much of a break-in period. They are lighter weight than my previous hikers (Keens), so slightly less supportive, but still sufficient. My feet are somewhat wide and I didn't have an issue with the toe box or overall fit. I've probably covered about 70-80 km of mixed terrain, in rain and shine without issues. Hopefully they continue to hold up.

Hardly wore these boots since buying them earlier this year. After a few wears, the material on the left boot buckled inward at the base of the first inside eyelet. Now, with every step the boot rubs my foot where the boot has collapsed. Right boot is now buckling at the same spot. Not comfortable at all. Seems like poor design to me. When you tighten the laces, the cloth material buckles inward. A decent hiking boot would be designed to keep its shape.

A coworker of mine had the same ones, and said hers didn't last long. Mine have held up one year so far, wearing them a few times a month, and in backcountry. The biggest flaw for me is the design of the shoelaces. I've tripped multiple times due to the lace hooks snagging on each other when my feet get too close to each other. The shoelaces are not good quality either. I paid the hefty price tag assuming they were a good design, but I will not be buying from salomon anymore.

They do the job in terms of being waterproof, but the laces are awful. Super slippery and won't stay unless I do a climbing knot. They aren't as warm as my other waterproof hiking boots, which is actually nice. The tread is also pretty good.

I bought these about a week ago. While they looked great, were a good price (got them on sale), and felt comfy while I walked around the house for the first hour, once I ripped the price tags off and went on a 45 minute walk I could feel MAJOR rubbing to where I had to stop multiple times and adjust the laces. The only way I could walk in them eventually was with the laces so loose they no longer supported my ankles. I'm disappointed as I have had great experiences with this brand in the past. Plus, now I can't return them so I will have to find someone else to pass them on to.
