Philips The Xtra 55PML9008/12

Lovely picture and ambilight but the interface is so poor. No disney plus so have had to buy a fire stick. So many apps that nobody has ever used or heard of. Had a Philips before which had a much better interface

Purchased this product as was very excited about the mini LED aspects of the TV but wouldn't recommend it at all. The TV itself is fine but the base software IS NOT ANDROID. Phillips have added their own software to the TV and therefore you're unable to use simple things such as Apple TV +, Disney +, etc - further to the above, the phillips Smart OS (not so smart, I'm afraid) is extremely slow in comparison to a TV running android, like our older phillips tv.

I gave this five stars for the the picture quality and sound quality and the ability to download many apps to it. I watch movies from an external source input and so far the picture quality across HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby have been good. Little tweaky here and there with each film in relationship to picture size, but other than that, fantastic clear, crisp pictures.Audio from the TV through inbuilt speakers is good quality. There are many apps onboard,it takes a bit of time to learn what they provide Netflix, Disney etc are loaded, only needing a subscription. The ambilight is great, we use Sport mode quite ofte, and turn off the room lights, it's the best option to actually being at the game.Movies come alive, the screen seems to be much bigger, and definately provides more atmosphere.A fantastic addition to a home.

local dimming is a joke, movies and media look better on SDR settings than HDR, you can't set HDR properly, the diodes dim and illuminate very poorly in HDR, probably the algorithms supporting them are poorly optimized, which is why the maximum contrast is weaker than the possibility of setting it in SDR with local dimming turned on, strange artifacts and overexposures and only 80 local dimming zones in a mini LED TV, Philips really, I know Full array TVs with 120 zones , which are not even mini LED, this is really a joke, if they improve the algorithms, maybe it will still work somehow, it's very poor, 1000 nits doesn't make any impression these days either

My last philips tv had android tv and I had zero problems with the os, now they are using their in house os which is freaking useless. The TV itself has fantastic picture but it's only worth buying as a dumb tv for an external smart device.
