I bought this for our new travel lifestyle based on reviews of similar travels. Unfortunately, this is a terrible backpack for travel. There isn't any organization and no quick access. Dumping everything into the main backpack is fine, since I use packing cubes, but there aren't any front pockets for storing and accessing IDs, cords, etc. (except a useless small one on the daypack), The daypack doesn't open up very far and has no organizational tools, so it's your laptop and the tiny bit it can carry just dumped in. You can't get to your laptop without pulling everything out, and there's no way to secure anything, so it's just a matter of time before you lose something critical. If you're planning on using this for heavy travel, don't. There are better options.

The functionality of this backpack is hard to beat. While you don't get to 55L (in reality it is divided between the 2 components), the main unit is large enough to accommodate a 2-3 day business trip and the "baby" backpack is an excellent complement if you want to take short trips in town or hiking. The laptop section is in the baby, FYI. Quality is good (early assessment) but like everything else, the true resilience and good or bad workmanship doesn't show up for about 6 months (that's why REI sends these invitations early... ;)). Seems like good value for the price and less expensive compared with other brands.

Very happy with the Purchase! Perfect size for the minimalist Backpacker! My son is extremely happy with the size and believes it plenty big enough for him to Backpack Europe. The daypack is also removable. On all accounts it appears to be a very durable backpack.

I needed a bag for hand luggage and a small day bag, after alot of research this fits the bill.
