Very easy to learn and popular even with friends of mine who can't stand football games. The fast paced feel to it without stoppage (corners, throw-ins or free-kicks etc.) is very exciting and a great laugh. I still laugh out loud when a player is shoved into the side and electrocuted. Other great things like Bowser turning up to scorch the player with the ball mean this is a good casual introduction to footy. What makes it not great is that it gets a bit boring as there's no progression to the game. At least with normal football games you can build a team, use the transfer market and loads of other things. Apart from looking differently, most of the characters play very similarly and there's only 9 teams meaning you won't get much variation in who or how you play.

I actually got this game after playing Mario Strikers Charged Football and I have to say that this doesn't disappoint. I love the concept of football with no rules. This has a lot more cups than the sequel but not as many captains or sidekicks but still contains a respectable cast of the usual faces. If you like crazy Mario sports games but would prefer a more action packed game than Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, than this is the perfect game for you!
