Great watch, significant upgrade from fenix 6. Improved graphics and brightness, touchscreen and battery life. Cost is high, but worth it in my mind. I use it for all my exercise activities

This watch is not ready for release. I have had it for just over a year now. Structured workouts skip steps on it. This is especially true with swimming. The bluetooth cuts out on head phones when the watch is at arms length (like when you are walking). I've filed bug reports and warranty claim. They have been telling me for months these are not warranty issues, but they are not fixed. I am now using a competitor's product for structured workouts. I've been a garmin user for over a decade, but this experience has changed my mind.

Bought this when it had been out a little over a year. Heard it was buggy at first so I hesitated. Initially thought it may take some time to get used to the new UI (I'm coming from the Fenix 7) but that hasn't been a problem. I got it when REI had a $250 discount so it wasn't as big a hit as it could have been. Don't think I would have gone for it at full price. It has worked very well for me. Mainly use it for day-to-day and hiking.

Simply the best. This is my fourth Garmin GPS fitness watch. They are simply unrivaled in functionality, quality, features, value, style/design, etc. I wish that my Garmin EPIX Gen 2 (the watch replaced by this Fenix 8), lasted a bit longer (five years) for the money ($900 in 2020) though. I also LOVE that all critical functions are preserved without a wifi/phone connection which I will never do.

We returned the Fenix 8 amoled and exchanged it for the far more dependable Fenix 8 solar. The minute we took the Amoled model out of its case we noticed several problems. The flash light didn't work and the battery power indicator gave out several different readings. The Amoled version certainly looks nice but it apparently has a lot of software and/or hardware problems. The solar Fenix 8 is similar to the Fenix 7 version which I have used for a long time and like a lot. It has excellent battery life and is plenty bright enough to read. in short I'm not a fan of Amoled given its need for more battery power and and what seem to be a lot of bugs. Fortunately REI makes it easy to return the watch unlike Garmin itself.
