D-Link DWR-960 4G LTE wifirouter AC1200 Dual-Band, LTE Cat7 tot 300 Mbit/s, 2x GbE LAN

Continually disconnects from the network, requiring a manual reconnect and flaky speeds when it is connected. The cheap Huawei router that came with the mobile broadband plan is light years ahead. Only bought this as needed to attach external aerial. Complete waste of money.

This locked me out and required cold reboots after changing settings, for example Wi-fi signal strengths. It then locked out for no apparent reason causing me to lose contact with my home. This happened with about 3 days left under the 30 day return policy. I lost confidence with it and am now using a unit that is £100 more as reliability is essential.

After having this device serving my home network for less that 48 hours I started to receive certificate warnings stating my CA was being spoofed and I should disconnect. After spending a weekend resetting the device and upgrading the firmware to latest version (released 2023, it’s now Mar 2024) it’s been plugged in for a further 24 hours and back to certificate spoofs (ie almost certainly malware has been installed). Avoid like the plague, this device is junk.

I have waited 3 months to submit this review in order to see if the problems could be resolved. The router has consistently locked up at least once a day and sometimes up to four or five times. D-Link customer support have helped me to update the router software and whist the locking up occurs less frequently it still locks up approximately daily. The router is operating in a rural location, however the mobile signal is ok, so it really shouldn't drop out. I have tried the router on both the O2 and the Vodafone, network, but the same problem occurs on both. Ive tried numerous settings and even a factory reset, but to no avail. The performance is so bad that I have now gone back to using my old 4g router which although slower gives a reliable mobile connection and doesn't lock up.

I use it with a standard sim (£16 a months with u limited data and speed), cost less than any internet and works way better I found! The only thing is the setup, you will need to know the APN of your sim supplier and have a little bit of IT knowledge to set it up.
