De Garmin GT23M-TM is populair bij vissers die betrouwbare diepte- en structuurinformatie zoeken. De transducer levert scherpe visbogen en duidelijke beelden van de bodem, zelfs bij ruwe omstandigheden en grotere dieptes. Zowel CHIRP traditioneel als ClearVü sonar worden ondersteund, wat veelzijdigheid biedt voor verschillende visomstandigheden. Let op: het apparaat meet geen snelheid, alleen diepte en temperatuur. Installatie moet zorgvuldig gebeuren om schade aan de boot te voorkomen. Daarnaast is er een Prop 65-waarschuwing vanwege mogelijke blootstelling aan schadelijke stoffen. Over het algemeen wordt de beeldkwaliteit en diepteprestatie als grootste pluspunt genoemd, maar de beperkte sensormogelijkheden en installatie-eisen zijn aandachtspunten.

I bought this so that hiking in the back country would be safter and so I didn't have to wonder "how much farther?" It's great but it should come with its own software engineer. If I wanted to take a course in navigation, I would have signed up for one. It's not user friendly but it is very accurate and once you figure out how to use it, you will be satisfied.

The only issue I have it with it is that it runs through batteries way too fast and it not easy to work the buttons all the time. The screen is a bit small too.

The Garmin suffers from the worst UX design of any product I have ever used. As an engineer I realize German SW design is different but this is the most convoluted, non-intuitive user interface I have ever seen. Its almost like they let the firmware engineers design the user interface. The device also shuts down randomly, uses wired, nonstandard coordinates for way-pointing, and is non-responsive many times to button inputs. They really need to fire everyone in the UX department. As the other reviewers have said I wish I just stuck to my better designed eTrex. Id never buy another Garmin product.
