A good box for storing your Hard Drives. Seems pricey. Overall recommended

I disagree with RJC above. I wouldn't expect a good outcome from dropping one, on to ceramic tiles. Its anti-shock, not anti-drop. Shocks are little jolts, the rough and tumble of jostling around in your bag as you walk. They are great if you have spare HDDs lying around that just need protecting.

Initially I was very impressed with these boxes as I own 10 of the little buggers.I am now however not that infused.REASONDropped one yesterday (containing a 2TB drive) on ceramic tiles. Guess what?You guessed it, it snapped the lid and the drive has not survived its G-Shock.So the claim of anti-shock is not quite what it says on the tin.Should have carpeting throughout, the drive may have survived, maybe even the box.Back to cardboard boxes and foam for me, cheap as they come with the drive when new.Regards

I've decided to start using 3.5" hard drives as a backup media, rather than using expensive 'off the shelf' external USB drives. I like the idea of having something to store them in just too keep the dust off them and protect them from minor knocks. This is certainly better than the last one I bought which was a two part silicone thing (cant remember where I got it from) though like with the silicone one, the 1" drives fit more snugly inside. Mine I think was missing one foam pad, but the drive seems well protected enough. I will be buying some more in the future. Just don't be one of those people that expect these cases to fully protect their drives from 'falls' I'd suggest these are for a basic level of protection only. Just wish they were £2.99 each instead. If you have a lot of drives, you could end up paying a lot of money for plastic boxes. That said, I may only ever need another one or two, so I'm not gonna cry over a couple of quid.

With just enough padding to stop the drive rattling in the box, it is tough enough to protect the drive and makes it easy to stack spare drives. Simple, effective and affordable, I highly recommend the Icy Box.
