Excellent lens with a pro quality feel. Much cheaper than the f1.4 and still has a "pro" feel to it. If you really want to squeeze a little more light onto your sensor then shell out for the bulkier more expensive f1.4. However this lens will do the job of getting you sharp pictures at a fraction of the cost and it's smaller too. So the lens is great. However Amazon's service is not so great. The price was good when I bought mine but it was sourced from Germany (this wasn't stated in the listing) with a German only booklet in it, a Germany only extended warranty and took a long time to arrive. On top of that it was sent in a brown paper bag with only the retail box to protect it. I know Amazon are trying to cut down on packaging but to send an expensive delicate lens across Europe in a paper bag and leave it on my doorstep is ridiculous. Luckily all seems to be well with the lens as Nikon packed it well in the box.

This lens is wonderful but possibly best not purchased used... My used copy looked like new but would not produce truly sharp images; my AF-S 18-35G was sharper at 24mm. I sent it to Nikon for repair ($210 + shipping) and now it is wonderfully sharp. Reading lots of reviews shows that more than a few folks have had back-focusing issues with this lens. I ended up spending almost as much as on a new lens. Anyway, I'm very happy with the lens and it has quickly become a favorite. I like the 24mm focal length as it seems to be the widest that still provides a "normal" and not unnatural view. This lens is somewhat expensive but its performance helps you forget what you paid for it!

This lens is a dream come true. We are avid travelers and we take photographs of landscapes and architecture. We personally find the 35mm lenses too constricting, and 28mm lenses dont really work on wide landscapes or large interior spaces. After some consideration we got this lens that does not have the distortions associated with the wide-angle 21mm lenses and below. 24mm is just right on full frame. We have had this lens for over a month and we love it. It is not heavy and you can tell immediately it is a new design by Nikon. We use it with the Nikon z7 and Nikon z6 (our favorite) with the new adapter. We are completely happy with the images we obtained. They are tack sharp, with that Nikon quality of embellished reality. We tried other brands, most of them having that unconvincing digital look. We also do occasional people and friends photos on location where they blend with the composition. We find this lens very polite.
