Nikon AF-S 24-120mm F/4G ED VR

This was a genuine Nikon hood. Expensive for what it is but then what isn't these days.

Seems to good all-rounder back up for my more specialist lenses.

I'd had my previous lens 24-120mm for 23 years. The replacement is better, now with VR it is a solid build and very sharp in performance. Great lens and acts as my standard lens.

I have been using the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR lens some time now and I say it is a nice lens to use for landscape photos. I like its versatility to be able to use in both landscape and portraits, which is very efficient for a wedding photographer like me.

This is a significant improvement on the previous version, so do check which model is being reviewed. This is a great 'walkabout' lens with a useful focal length range. It is pin sharp, with little vignetting or chromatic aberration, except when at wide open aperture. Auto focus is quick and positive. Although I have Nikon's hugely successful 14-24mm and 70-300mm lenses, the 24-120mm is hardly ever off the front of my D810. The only negative feature, apart from the fact that it is quite sturdily heavy, is the barrel dostortion. If you can afford post production applications, such as Photoshop, this can be corrected in the NEF file version.
