If you have a machine with an older version of Windows, this works better. Getting 500 Mbps speed. I had tried a latest Netgear unit that was supposed to be reverse compatible with Windows 10 but it dropped conn action after a minute. It was a Micro Center advisor who ultimately steered me to a solution.

Not worth it, the adapter was a pain just to get set up. It would recognise your modem but it would not connect (even with the correct password) - Only after changing usb slots multiple times like a game of musical chairs would it finally decide to work. During use it was okay until it randomly decides to drop out no reason, unlucky if you were in the middle of something important. Pretty bad considering this is one of the more expensive adapters, and from ASUS who are usually quite reliable. Ended up getting a refund and buying an MSI adapter for a third of the price and works great.

Most of the time this device functions as advertised however, ASUS needs to update the firmware because sometimes the device drops connection and won't reconnect with a restart or running the troubleshooter which also resets the device. It also occurs when disconnecting from VPN Express. I was able to stabilize the connection by disabling the 2.4GHz capability of the adapter. Specifically, after 5GHz is dropped it defaults to 2.4GHz but won't reconnect to 5GHz without running troubleshooting or rebooting the laptop.

It's a great product. Worked exactly as expected. I liked being a USB adapter that it had a cradle you could set it in so I didn't have to clutter up the back of my wife's PC.
