De Gigaset AS690 Duo is een DECT‑draadloze telefoonsset in het zwart met twee handsets en een basisstation. Hij ondersteunt nummerweergave en heeft een verlicht display van ongeveer 2 inch. Een geïntegreerd telefoonboek biedt ruimte aan circa 100 contacten. DECT‑radiotechniek zorgt voor draadloos bellen in huis. De set is ontworpen voor analoge vaste‑lijnaansluitingen en wordt geleverd met laadstations, netadapters en geschikte accu’s voor beide toestellen.

The screen does not switch off automatically in normal mode. This is very annoying at night. It's a shame.

I've always had gigasets, the good thing about them is that you can add other gigaset solo phones internally, which is useful when you have a large house.

So far, the phones are working properly. The only problem, which is a bit annoying for me, is that the screen lighting on each handset is constantly on and despite digging around in the settings I haven't found a way to deactivate it so that the screen isn't permanently over-lit. I don't think this will be good for battery life. I bought this model because I already had almost the same one, but the handsets gradually broke down after several years of use. On these old handsets I could set the backlight so that when they were not in use, the screen went into standby mode. It's a shame because otherwise everything's OK.
