The Akai APC64 is by far the best budget-friendly controller for Ableton Live, if you can't afford the Push. The build quality is great, despite it being plastic, it is a very tough plastic. The ribbon controllers/touch strips are a great modern way to control anything in Ableton Live. You can control 4 effects at once (8 if you're an octopus or any other cephalopod). The design is super intuitive overall, with buttons to switch to most functions you need in Live. It makes live performance easy with dedicated launch buttons on the right-hand side and the 64 pads enable you to easily record and arm tracks or play any VST instrument on the fly. It's improved my workflow drastically already and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to get some tactile control over Ableton Live. Plus the customer service you receive from PMT is fantastic and they often have the most competitive price online - I use them for all my gear nowadays.
