De Yamaha EMX5 is een analoge powermixer die vooral wordt gewaardeerd om zijn robuuste bouw, ingebouwde versterker en eenvoudige bediening. Voor kleine bands, repetitieruimtes en kleinschalige live-optredens is het een praktische alles-in-één oplossing met bruikbare effecten en basisfeedbackonderdrukking. Gebruikers noemen de betrouwbaarheid en het gemak als grootste pluspunten. Tegelijk is het geen moderne digitale mixer: de mogelijkheden voor routing, opslag van presets en uitgebreide signaalbewerking zijn beperkt. Ook is het geheel zwaarder en minder modulair dan een set met losse digitale mixer en eindversterkers. Het is vooral een goede keuze voor wie een eenvoudige, stevige en snel inzetbare oplossing zoekt, en minder waarde hecht aan digitale functies of latere uitbreidbaarheid.

This unit was sorely needed by my duo. We needed good power in a compact, rack-mountable PA. It's is not as small as I'd prefer but the rack-mounted option closed the deal. (Note that Yamaha does not include rack-mount kit; it is sold separately and is not cheap. We passed on that and I had enough hardware to fabricate my own mount). In a rack I 'm able to keep it cabled to other toys, power,etc., so all we use is in one Anvil case. Wattage is more than adequate and we sound much cleaner. Yamaha needs to include the rack kit. It would help their image.

Really an 8 channel mixer. Very good chorus and reverb effects. Stereo channels very effective. This is the third Yamaha mixer for me so obviously I like them. The EMX -7 has a graphic equalizer but this one doesn't. It has a one knob parametric thingie. Seems to do the job. Worth the money.
