The lack of cable management raceways means that your cables (SATA and front panel) will be partially blocking the intake side of the fan array. Airflow on 1U servers is never great to begin with, but it's usually adequate -- as it is here. You will need to take your time and really work with the cables to ensure decent airflow. This is a concern with just about every 1U chassis. What makes this one different is the relatively tight space between the intake side of the fans and the backplane. The quality of the chassis outweighs this issue and I won't hesitate to buy more as I need them. But coming from Supermicro, this feels like an oversight.

When building, after installing MB, manage PSU cables, remove fans, and then go directly to SATA cables tucked under the fan mounting brackets and SATA ports. Just a trick I learned from building a bazillion of these bad boys.

This is a great chassis, and is not really meant for generic boards. I was making a budget machine and had an asus desktop board. I really had to cram the board in to get it to fit, as there is a sound port on the motherboard. It barely fits, but other boards may not be so lucky. If you can afford an extra $50-$100 GET A SUPER MICRO BOARD, unless you know what you're doing.

It only comes with 4 fans, and one dummy fan. With a RAID card in the case you probably want to flip the dummy fan with the last fan, so that the dummy fan is closest to the PSU and there is plenty of airflow over your RAID card. Take the whole fan unit out to route your own SATA cables, and to change the position of the dummy fan.
