In fact, the video goes through the USB. You need a specific "driver" (which is a problem for a Pro PC if you don't have administrator rights) that will compress the video. The one for Linux is "buggy": It causes cuts that make the display very unstable and made the PC heat up unnecessarily (which went to safety 2 or 3 times). I don't recommend it except for (very) occasional use under Windows (no test under Mac as far as I am concerned).
