I own five of these and all are the 9 volt model. They have been 100% reliable, tough as nails, quiet and useful in both live sound and recording. I leave the cardioid pattern cap on all of the time and the feedback rejection is good on live sound while limiting bleed from other sources. I scratch my head when reading negative reviews as my experience over 20 years has been great. That's why I have had 5 for a long time. Musicians over and over have asked me what model and make they are as they liked the live sound over the SM58's that they are normally given. I have 3, SM58's and a 57 that are like brand new because they aren't used. If anyone would like an example of only these being used for a concert and the live recording I would be happy to send you a sample and you can judge for yourself before purchasing. Long Live the AKG C1000. Tom eh

Now this Mic is AWESOME considering its low price. Designed for voice recording and instruments. Gives you that FAT Sound you always wanted. The quality is about the same with more features. Shelf Filter and a (-10dB Cut). It now uses (2) AA Batteries - Finally! My only complaint? The Foam Windscreen is loose and can fall off. Who cares! This thing is great.

A mate brought one of these mics round, set it up in vocal booth and only tried it out on a few (what I call when constructing/writing a track) "sketches", then one day I was gonna lay some guitar riffs down using a simple homemade practice guitar amp, along with a sm57, I placed both mikes on the speaker assigned to two seperate tracks and played away, on playback in the daw the sm57 came out as expected, then I blended in the AKG C1000s track, my reaction was totally wow!!! bottom end that the sm57 could never produce, so the mixture of both mics has pleased me and I cant wait for when the marshall stack gets pulled out for some serious recording, which hopefully will be soon

I have to agree this is a decent microphone. I thought it was pretty decent, and had some good recordings of a piano as a stereo pair, or of acoustic guitars. Genuinely, the sounds was good, faithful, no noticeable noise. Then I was told AKG C1000s were crap, and stopped using them. Recently I recorded a bit of violin, assuming it would be terrible, but it wasn't - it was a very detailed and accurate sound. Decent. I think our ears can deceive us. If someone tells you something is better you believe it. The only way to be sure is with blind testing. How many people who really think this is a bad microphone have tried that?
