Call Of Juarez

This game is so absurd and perplexing that I'm turning into James Rolfe every time I'm playing it. Let's see the beginning of the game (spoiler alert): you steal a gun from a guy who nearly shoots from for trespassing. Then you start to practicise shooting in front of him (now you're fiends!). So much fuss just to give the gun to the sheriff the very next moment. No problem, you have to steal a gun AGAIN (now from a h**ker), you get ambushed (interrupting a b***job), leave her room through the window but for some absurd reason they don't notice you standing in front of them. No, sorry, they notice you when you're already 300 yards away... This game gives me brain aneurysm. I gave up at that moment. I like absurd humour but not bad games.

I liked it, but it is indeed old and janky. The devs had some really good ideas with this one and its western theme was executed brilliantly. If it were remade to modern tech, I believe it would be a success.

I can see why this lead to multiple sequels. An interesting plot following duel characters mixed with some satifying gun play led to an enjoyable time. The stealth and climbing mechanics are where the game starts to show it's age leading to many frustrating falls and instant failures.

An average, linear, wild west-themed FPS game. The story is not particularly good or well told. Although, one of the main playable characters, reverend Ray, is interesting and unique while, on the other hand, the other one, Billy, is kind of bland and the opposite of interesting. The graphics are not impressive but serviceable, voice acting is hit or miss, especially low quality when it comes to Billy. The gunplay is pretty average or below average. As is tradition with older FPS games, there are annoying mandatory stealth sections on top of some platforming bits which are clunky due to less than great physics. Runs pretty well and did not crash once thorough out the whole playthrough. Overall, an average shooter recommended only if you are craving a wild west adventure.

Brought as part of the Call of Juarez bundle as Gunslinger is really good. The game shows it's age but with some good ideas.
