The Outer Worlds biedt een boeiend verhaal met veel keuzemogelijkheden en verschillende eindes, waardoor je echt invloed hebt op het verloop van het spel. De karakterontwikkeling is diep en je kunt je vaardigheden en speelstijl aanpassen. Companions brengen extra diepgang en unieke missies. De Tactical Time Dilation-functie maakt gevechten strategischer. Wel worden de gevechten na verloop van tijd te makkelijk en hebben sommige keuzes minder impact dan verwacht. Op Xbox One zijn de graphics soms wat minder scherp. Over het algemeen is het een sterke RPG voor liefhebbers van verhalende games.

The Outer Worlds is the kind of inspired take on a genre that could only come from a team as passionate and talented as Obsidian. It's not perfect, but it's creative, succinct, compelling and funny in all the right ways. I sincerely hope that this signals the beginning of a new, ongoing franchise because the people and stories of the Halcyon Colony will stick with me for a long time to come.
