Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis biedt een diepgaand alchemiesysteem en een uniek, strategisch vechtsysteem dat veel spelers aanspreekt. De 2D-graphics en soundtrack worden vaak geprezen, net als de humor en de charmante cast. Toch zijn er duidelijke nadelen: het verhaal en de personages zijn weinig origineel, het synthetiseren van items wordt na verloop van tijd eentonig en het spel begint traag. Ook wordt de lokalisatie regelmatig als ondermaats ervaren. Over het algemeen is het een aanrader voor fans van alchemie-RPG's, maar minder geschikt voor wie veel waarde hecht aan een sterk verhaal of snelle gameplay.

I own the PS2 original and the gameplay is pretty much completely ported over, which is simply great. However, it seems that in trying to fit it to a UMD the developer/publisher decided to downsize things a bit heavy-handedly. Most disappointing is the very blurry character imagery. In the PS2 version, they are crisp. Subtle things, such as in the character Nikki, like slight downturn in eyebrows or even the occassional highlighting or shading of cheeks are evident. Whereas the PSP it is rather difficult to discern. This may be due to simply shrinking the image's resolution without first trying to retain image quality. Overall it is a great port, with the MOST important things intact.

Keep a mindset that if you are looking for ground breaking graphics, this is not your game, it is a light-hearted fun comedy anime style RPG and it is not to be played hard core. i'd recommend Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for PSP if you like hard-core and graphics RPG. If nothing else add this to your collection, thier will be a 2nd one in about a year to continue the story.

I agree with Terrence. The game as such is great but on the psp it is an outrage. The game freezes all 30 minutes of playtime. NIS should be really ashamed for selling this not working product!

I played this game on the PS2 and when I saw they were porting it to the PSP I was excited. I recieved the game and dug in, hoping to score all A's on my classes. The game is an exact port which is great. I love the syntesis and class schedule along with the story line of each of the characters. I am however very disappointed about the load times and the way the game freezes, and 'hick ups' as you play. I've many times feared that the game had frozen completely and I would have to restart from an old save. While still a good game, it makes me unsure if the portablity is worth the hick ups. If you don't mind them, as they do seem to be mostly when you first load a screen then buy the game.
