Rodea the Sky Soldier biedt een origineel verhaal en leuke vliegmechanieken, maar wordt sterk gehinderd door slechte besturing en een problematische camera. De 3DS-versie heeft bovendien mindere graphics en framerate dan de consoleversies. Er is veel te ontdekken en verzamelen, wat de herspeelbaarheid vergroot, maar de technische tekortkomingen en matige voice-acting maken het lastig om echt van het spel te genieten. Kopers moeten vooral rekening houden met de frustrerende controls en de mindere presentatie op de 3DS.
