Mechanic Master

If you liked the game The Incredible Machine (TIM) you'll find this game very very familiar. For anyone who loved that game you'll like this one too! (of course theres nothing better than the original)

What a brilliant little game. Got this for Xmas & haven't put it down since. Bascialy the game is a series of problem solving puzzles based around a cause & effect principle. If you put the ball there, then it will fall here (crushing the Alien), you get the picture. The graphics are basic but fun & they do the job nicely. You get over 100+ puzzles to solve & your tools & weapons change from level to level so the challenge is always fresh. My only complaint would be that it isn't really the kind of game you can play again once you've solved all the levels, so it looks like I'll be trading mine in for 'Mr. Physics' as soon as it comes out.

My 14 year old son absolutely loves this. A lot of it is quite easy for him - but he enjoys it none-the-less. Like a complex construction game in carry-around format.

My 8yr old son LOVED this - for 2 days. He then piped up: "Finished." And that was that. Unlike his mum. I couldn't figure out how to get past Level 1, and to be honest I lost interest at that point. Must be a generation gap thing. Anyway, it is resigned to the bottom of the DS pile now & will probably end up on ebay or passed around his friends. He found it very enjoyable - figuring out what tools to use & how to use them on each level is perfect problem-solving practice for children. He said it was 'brilliant!' and he'd like to have a Mechanic Master 2. And that's the thing - once this is done, it's done. He said there was much less enjoyment to be had from creating his own levels, because where's the challenge in that? The software needs upgrading so that it propagates its own advanced levels, ad infinitum.

Had high expectations of this game, but it wasn't for us. Traded in within 24 hours.
