Diablo 1 staat bekend om zijn verslavende hack-and-slash gameplay, donkere sfeer en eenvoudige besturing. De willekeurig gegenereerde kerkers zorgen voor veel herspeelbaarheid, maar de gameplay kan na verloop van tijd repetitief aanvoelen. Online multiplayer is eenvoudig, maar wordt vaak verpest door cheaters. Het verhaal en de interactie met NPC’s zijn beperkt, en de graphics zijn inmiddels verouderd. Voor liefhebbers van klassieke dungeon crawlers blijft het echter een aanrader, vooral dankzij de unieke sfeer en het gevoel van progressie.

Cubed3 Rating Diablo is, without a doubt, a pioneering classic, but that can't really hide its age - not so much in terms of visuals, which are awesome in all their SVGA glory, but in regards to the gameplay, which is enjoyable and all, but also light years away from how much more enjoyable something like its legendary sequel is. To be perfectly honest, though, this is actually a very strong recommendation, simply because of how immensely captivating its dark fantasy atmosphere is. Yes, it's just a decent game, but it's also an awesome, unforgettable experience.

I think Diablo 2 is one the best games ever. It still holds up to today's games.

D2 is probably my favourite game of all time overall, and please if you are thinking of buying/trying this game, DO IT. The only reason for 3 stars is because the actual Battlechest packaging had visible corner and edge damage and wear. Which when purchasing a game advertised as new i personally find that a little irritating. Other than that D2 is 10/10, this is partly swayed by nostalgia. However the item and loot system ALONE can keep you playing this game for over a decade, the 7 different classes and all their different builds only add to that. I could go on and on, but i truely believe D2 is one of the greatest and most influential games of all time.

Diablo II is even still the best of its kind. The controls are fluid, albeit not with all of the shortcuts we expect in games today. The graphics were amazing for its release time, and still not bad considering. I found that the replayability was always so high because there was just so much gear to gather for all of your alts. And hitting max level of 99 was seemingly impossible, but always something I strive for.
