I'm loving my experience so far. I'm playing on casual mode because I'm not good with horror games. It's really scary, atleast for me.

What exactly are the benefits of the open world in this game? I just noticed an useless and boring interval between the engaging parts of the game. And the optimization is horrible.

I can say i fell in love with TEW2. I liked the story more than TEW1, and i loved the movie-like atmosphere and cutscenes. Also it's less linear than TEW1 because the addition of exploration component (open world) they added, which is not mandatory though. I think it's a well balanced survival horror and it alternates situations where there's lot of tension, with more relaxed situations. Also there are different ways to handle enemies encounters (sometimes you need to really use you brain). The sound design and the soundtrack are very good, as well as the visuals, which are more refined than TEW1. Surely it has some flaws, but for a game from 2017, i'm not disappointed at all. The only thing i can't go past is the poor optimization they did to the pc version (framerate drop but luckily never lower than 60fps, textures that popup expecially during cutscenes). The Evil Within 2 is an improved sequel, in almost every aspect. I would recommend it

Honestly The Evil Within 2 is a really good game, but I feel like it strayed away from the horror aspect after chapter 3 or so, after that its just running around the map slowly sneaking around. Its pretty good if you wanna spend some time in a horror game and are a huge fan of single player.
