Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition wordt geprezen om zijn sterke cast, diepgaand gevechtssysteem en de toevoeging van nieuwe content zoals extra personages en verbeterde graphics. De game biedt veel waarde voor JRPG-fans en ondersteunt coöperatief spelen. Wel zijn er duidelijke minpunten: de Engelse voice-acting is inconsistent door verschillende stemacteurs in oude en nieuwe scènes, wat als storend wordt ervaren. Ook zijn sommige animaties en cutscenes verouderd, en kunnen sidequests frustrerend zijn door onduidelijke triggers. Ondanks deze nadelen blijft het een van de beste delen in de Tales-serie voor zowel nieuwe als terugkerende spelers.

I bought this game simply as a collector. I honestly know nothing about the series, but after playing for awhile, I was impressed with the layout and story of the game being an RPG.

The art direction in Vesperia is the series all-time high. Smooth, clean cel-shading with gorgeous painterly textured BGs. I wish Namco kept this anime cel shading style in their subsequent Tales releases.
