Edge Of Chaos Independence War 2

I'd love to wax lyrical about this game. I played it to death when it came out and looked forward to coming back to it now. Sadly GOG haven't seen fit to actually make it viable on modern hardware. It can't cope with a modern CPU base clock so forget about being able to control anything in flight. Oh, and they left it in a state where you still need some manner of optical drive (simulated or real) attached to access the single player campaign.

Absolutely loved this game back in the day, so I was excited to see it on GOG. Unfortunately, after installing, it prompted for the game disk, which I no longer have & no longer have a drive to run on my laptop. After loading & watching the opening video, the single player campaign wasn't available, which is what I was looking forward to playing, so got a refund. If GOG fixes this issue, I'll happily give it another go.

Doesn't even make it to the opening cinematic. Let alone the main menu. Mouse pointer on a black screen. Non functional.

Unfortunately I can't recommend this game at any price because there's no way to customize the controls. This is an unforgivable mistake for a space flight game.

It starts with the fact that you need either a DVD player, or a virtual DVD player to play Single Player. Then there is the random crashes after leaving the hanger. This 'might' be a good game, but I will never know. The frustration of trying to get it to run is just not worth it. You shouldn't have to mod a game to try and get it to play.
