Something came in the mail today... I wonder...

Something came in the mail today... I wonder what is it. It's..... YOU'VE GOT MAIL!!!! Sorry, even the joke's stupid, but I made it a lot better to fit in this movie. If I ever see this movie in my inbox, you should know what I'm going to do with it.

The shop around the corner

This is a great cute love story of a movie. Tom and Meg work well together again. You see how old and outdated it is using AOL as their email. The video quality is just adequate and the audio although okay is too low in volume. For extras you get around and hours worth on the movie disc. A dvd is include with another movie " The shop around the corner". This B/W movie that "You got mail" imitates is not as good but interesting to see the similarities. Besides that 99 minutes extra movie is another 15 minutes of extra content.

Meg and Tom are great

A remake of the 'The Shop Around the Corner' of sorts, but brought up to modern times by throwing in the ever popular growing trend of email (at the time it was made). Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are great on screen together as they were in their previous movies. The whole cast works great together and you feel like they are real. The PQ is nice. It's not great like today's movies, but it's got a good look to it for being made in the 90's . The colors are bright and not overly done. AQ is good, though again nothing special, but adequate enough for this type of movie. Plenty of extras including the original 'The Shop Around the Corner' that the movie was based on. Overall, if you are looking for a good chick-flick, this is it. A classic for sure.

You've Got Mail (1998)

You've Got Mail attempts to capitalize on Hanks and Ryan's Sleepless in Seattle chemistry but never quite taps into its predecessor's breezy Northwestern magic. More timely than timeless, it's a sweet and funny romantic comedy and nothing more. Warner's Blu-ray release doesn't exactly excel either, but it also doesn't disappoint all that much. Its aging video transfer is colorful and commendable, its somewhat flat DTS-HD Master Audio track is adequate and its already generous supplemental package even includes a second feature film (albeit in standard definition). All in all, it's a decent catalog release that can be snagged at for a good price.

You've Got Mail

You've Got Mail is a charming film from start to finish. As a comedy it succeeds at bringing the laughs, and as a romance it tugs at the heartstrings. A solid script, great acting, and efforts behind the camera, come together to make for a movie that should be enjoyable to most audience members. It's best served to couples, but sappy romantics will warm up to it as well.
