I got this for my son because he loved seabiscuit and we loved it too. What's not to like? It's the story of a champion horse and a resilient owner.

Never got around to checking it out at the theaters so decided to do a blind buy. And boy did it pay off. Secretariat is outstanding! It is very uplifting, exciting and inspiring all around. The racing scenes are stunning. And the cinematography was beautiful. Looks and sounds fantastic on Blu-ray as well, definitely one of the best. 5/5 stars and highly recommended!

This movie is surprisingly good. The horse race scenes are the best to date in terms of visuals, sounds, and camera angles. This movie puts SeaBiscuit to shame. Secretariat was a great horse. But Man-of-war was also a great horse. The race between War Admiral and Secretariat was awesome. The movie focuses on the owner and her struggles which was played wonderfully by Diane Lane. The actor over all is great. But the Horse was simply beautiful. If you are a fan of horses and horse racing, I do not see any way you should not see this movie.

Secretariat is the sort of feel-good underdog sports story some enjoy and some find derivative. I'm not sure which camp I belong in. I enjoyed Wallace's earnest period drama and its endearing characters, all the while wincing at its sticky sentiment, familiar narrative and predictable plotting. I never felt surprised or involved in Tweedy's trials, just swept up in the sincerity of the film's performances and the thrill of its races. Disney's Blu-ray release isn't flawless either, but it's more than capable. Its faithful video transfer only suffers from a few issues, its DTS-HD Master Audio track is a sonic treat, and its supplemental package, while rather traditional, is exactly what I've come to expect with similar releases. I'd still advise renting the film itself first, but if you know you're a sucker for genre pics of its ilk, then by all means add it to your cart and enjoy.
