Even if this remake was terrible, it would have to be really bad to ruin the classic original, since it has been adapted and parodied plenty of times since - some of the most popular being Cabin Fever and Cabin in the Woods - but this latest rendition is actually an okay watch, with enough geysers of gore to keep the horror fans happy. Its only downside is that it takes itself far too seriously, and thus any attempts at a laugh are awkward and jarring. But overall, it's doesn't do too bad.

"You're all going to die tonight." This is one of the best movies ever! It's deliciously gory and disturbing, and I love the actress who played Mia. If you gave this a negative review, you don't know a good movie if it slapped you in the face.

One of the better horror remakes we had over the past years. A solid movie overall, pretty clever, frightening at times, good atmosphere, but mostly a great cinematography. A limited amount of CGI, mostly old fashioned camera tricks. As a modern flick and hommage to the classic original version, it works pretty well.

The first Evil Dead was neither comical or "fun" when it first came out it was horrifying, gory, and relentless. Such as this film is. It also keeps in the tradition of each film being a different genre piece. Evil Dead was horror, Evil Dead 2 was horror comedy, and Army was comedy. People seem to completely forget the original Evil Dead and talk about Evil Dead 2 like it's the first. The only reason "Evil Dead" would be considered funny is due to its age and acting. This movie was fantastic, scary, non-stop, and crazy entertaining. Sure the film isn't perfect, but it makes up for that by being a blast to watch. Overall I give this movie a 7.0 i will be buying this and re-watching many times

Evil Dead is een remake/reboot van Sam Raimi’s (bijna) gelijknamige cult-klassieker uit 1981. In de film roept een groep jongeren in een boshut Het Kwaad op waarna ze één voor één het loodje leggen. Binnen dit standaard plot bevat de remake te weinig verrassingen om een blijvende indruk achter te laten. Dit ondanks het prima effectwerk. De BD-uitgave heeft een goede beeldkwaliteit en uitstekend geluid. Als extra’s zijn een audiocommentaar en een aantal korte featurettes aanwezig.
