Dvd Captain America: First Avenger

I was excited to start my Marvel marathon off with a 4K disc, and i was fairly satisfied. PQ: Unfortunately this was filmed digitally at 1080p so there is little to no upgrade in resolution that i could notice. The HDR treatment wasn't a radical change in overall tone. The image is dimmer as expected with a lot of HDR encoded movies, but it didn't pop as much as i had hoped. The spectral highlights weren't as blinding as they could have been, but there were some great moments like any of the scenes involving the tesseract-fueled artillary. AQ: This is a pretty typical Atmouse track, although the dynamics were fine. Once the volume was increased it was a good listen. The low end extension was pretty good but Aquaman dug deeper. Also overhead engagement wasn't phenomenal. The heights were only used for a few showy moments like the first test of the tesseract as a fuel, but the hemisphere of sound wasn't present at all times. Overall any Marvel fanatic should have this version.

Upon its initial theatrical release, Captain America: the First Avenger was a calculated risky move. But as will Marvels Iron Man 1 film The First Avenger would be box office Gold! This is an origin story that grabs a hold keeps you rooting for the underdog even as Cap himself tries to come to grips about the happenings, the recovery of the Tesseract being his main objective all the while battling the Red Skull before he can ultimately rule, Marvel's lastest 4K issued title improves upon the BD release with a smooth colored print and solid surround levels. The UHD itself features a nice smooth and atmosphere adventure. Disc specs feature a great bundle of Capt. America beet list along with a brief bundle of bonus material. Bottom line another must own and solid entertain

Captain America: The First Avenger certainly isn't at the head of the pack in terms of comic book movie greatness, but it epitomizes that genre better than any of its contemporaries. The movie is playfully fun, an addictive watch, and loaded with action, but still smart enough to offer fair character development and a good plot line, both of which aid in enhancing the movie's dual finales and setting it up for future installments in the Marvel universe. Additionally, the cast is strong, the direction is smooth, and ancillary elements are top-notch. In short, Captain America is everything a movie fan could want from a big budget comic book Summer movie. Disney's UHD delivers a positive upgrade over the Blu-ray both visually and aurally, but it's not necessarily a standout in either category within the broader UHD landscape. No new extras are included, but the set does carry over the old Blu-ray and all of its extra content. Recommended.

This isn't the most spectacular SteelBook on the market. The front cover is too Photoshop-y for this reviewer's taste, but the print does look good as it is. The rear side is more enticing, and the inner print image is fine, if also a bit unspectacular. The on-disc content, though, is very good, but fans will have to ask themselves if the price premium is worth it for a fairly stale looking cover.
