Tivoli Audio - Songbook - Blue/Gold

I bought this radio a few years ago. I love the design and quality. (I have 3 other Tivoli radios.) This one is *terrible8. Over time -- even if the radio is sitting on a shelf, not in sunlight, etc. etc. -- the plastic degrades. It becomes sticky to the touch, turns color, and is like a piece of tape with every bit of dust and dirt sticking to it. A polite enquiry to the company was not answered. I read some of the other reviews about made in China, and also saw some other reviews indicating some Chinese products have toxic chemical additives. (It doesn't take much of an online search to find feet damaged by plastic flip flops, for example [plastic flip flops damage chinese on a goo gle image search].) I don't know if this is a similar issue but suffice to say that the radio is about unable because of the degradation in the plastic casing. Great design but not well executed. (Does not even deserve 1 star, because that skews the overall rating average higher....)

I bought 3 of these radios, one for me and two as gifts for Christmas. At one time I had an old "box" radio that had an excellent speaker and had the old slide-rule dial, but after years of listening to that one at work it finally gave up on me. I had been wanting to find something similar but most of the radios now are all boom boxes with stereo speakers or personal-type units that are made for headphones/earbuds. I just wanted a small single speaker radio that had good sound & I had heard this one out at an electronics store & I can tell you that this one sounds fantastic!! It also has several extras like a sleep timer, an alarm, an AC adapter so that you can plug it in and the best feature of all (in my opinion) and auxiliary connector so that you can plug in your iPad, iPod, or CD player. You can also get a carrying case for it that has a carrying strap that includes an attached (with Velcro) pouch that will carry a iPod Classic. GREAT product!!!

This is our favorite Tivoli Audio radio. It's compact, delivers good sound and has an ample set of "presets" for both the AM and FM bands. It can be used with either conventional or rechargeable batteries (it requires six AA batteries). This version of the radio (with the hard finish rather than the rubberized finish actually stays cleaner. (The rubberized one tends to be a dirt magnet and gets sticky).

I have two of these Songbooks, one white, the other yellow. I've had them for years and use them daily. These radios are more than worth the price. The sound quality makes Bose look like a distant runner-up. If you like great sound quality, buy a Tivoli, and I suspect this applies to any radio they make.

We have Tivoli radios in the kitchen and nightstands and picked this one up to take to the beach. Incredibly well made with awesome sound. Great pull in of FM signals and plugging in our ipod is a breeze -- the rubber caps cover all accessory ports to keep sand away. Highly recommend.
