De Ricoh GRIIIx HDF biedt uitstekende beeldkwaliteit dankzij de 24MP APS-C sensor en is zeer compact, waardoor hij perfect is voor straatfotografie. Het Highlight Diffusion Filter geeft foto's een zachte, analoge uitstraling, maar vervangt wel het ND-filter, wat minder handig is bij fel licht. De beeldstabilisatie is goed en de camera is veelzijdig door de crop-modi. Nadelen zijn de beperkte batterijduur, het ontbreken van een ingebouwde zoeker en een gemiddelde burst-modus. De autofocus is snel genoeg voor dagelijks gebruik, maar niet toonaangevend. Dit model is vooral geschikt voor fotografen die waarde hechten aan draagbaarheid en een unieke beeldstijl.

Besides firmware updates that will later roll out to all models, the GR IIIx HDF is identical to the standard edition, and it's a pocket-friendly shooting tool with a capable APS-C sensor and versatile 40mm f/2.8 lens. Its ability to achieve a creative film-like look makes this the version we’d choose, even given the higher price and lingering niggles like battery life.
